Taínos are Indigenous People of the Caribbean and a subgroup of the Arawakan Indians. They inhabited Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic) and Puerto Rico.  Taíno petroglyphsare ancient symbols that are recorded on stone by carving, pecking or scratching on natural rock surfaces.

What do you need?  

  • Rocks in different sizes
  • Permanent marker
  • Taíno symbols (These can be foundonline and hereare some with their meanings)

 

 

How to make your Taíno petroglyph

This is a fun and easy activity for kids!  Just simply draw the images on the rocks with the permanent marker.  You will love the final result!
