In this exciting story, based on the author and illustrator's own experiences, a boy moves from Puerto Rico to the United States where he discovers that the city of New York has much more in common with the city of San Juan than the I could imagine.
Miguel's pet, Coquí, always hangs out with him: while he greets his neighbors in San Juan, buys cheeses at the bakery, and while listening to his grandfather's story when he met the famous baseball player Roberto Clemente. One day Miguel learns that he and his parents are moving to the United States, which means leaving behind their beloved grandparents, their home in Puerto Rico, and also Coquí. Life in New York City is overwhelming, with unfamiliar places, foods, and people. However when he and Mamá go exploring, they discover some similar places that remind them of home and Miguel realizes that there is a possibility of keeping a bit of Puerto Rico with him - including his love for Coquí - wherever he wants. let it go.
